I. Summary of work

The Classifier is responsible for ensuring the proper placement and classification of materials in the conveyor line performing the following functions.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To carry out this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential task satisfactorily.

  • Inspect materials and sort items or materials in piles or containers according to paper type, size, condition, color, or grade.
  • Remove contaminants from paper or floor.
  • Stack boxes and skids. Pour out boxes and material totes.
  • Feed material, such as waste paper, on the conveyor.
  • Clean the conveyor and surrounding sort line. Keep the surrounding work area clean.
  • Read the monitor to boot the machine and make sure the machine is operating correctly and at a speedmoderate.
  • Follow appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) as a guideline for operating and maintaining equipment.
  • Report any worker public safety factors and/or equipment malfunction.
  • Attend weekly/monthly security/operations meetings.
  • Other roles as assigned.

  • Experience: 3 months of relevant work experience.

The normal configuration for this job is an outdoor workplace.
