The Gladys Robinson Community Help Center (GRCHC) would like to invite you to apply to join our Board of Directors. GRCHC provides board members with a stellar opportunity to shape the Washington, DC, and Prince Georges’ County communities. We are looking for someone with experience and insight to shape the direction of this community-based organization and the communities we support.
The main purpose of the Gladys Robinson Community Help Center is to teach our community to PLAN a future, BUILD a foundation, and SHARE their knowledge.
The GRCHC is a newly formed startup that has been created to serve the community with free programs, resources, and support. We will provide programs and workshops that answer the community’s need for life skills development, financial literacy, family services, and career development.
What makes a good Board Member?
Honesty, integrity, independent decision-making, and objectivity are personal qualities that we consider to be necessary for board members. Serving on the board of directors is a major commitment that should not be undertaken lightly.
What are the responsibilities of the Board?
The Board of Directors oversees ensuring that a nonprofit is progressing toward its mission of community service. It must structure itself to be efficient and productive, while also ensuring that the organization functions in an ethical, truthful, and law-abiding way. The Board of Directors oversees ensuring enough human and financial resources, actively monitoring, and analyzing the organization’s financial and programmatic progress.
Specific goals for this year include raising enough money for operational costs, structuring our programs/market strategy, and revamping/updating the organization’s online presence by creating and implementing a social media plan. This will include redesigning the website, developing partnerships throughout the communities, and offering them top-notch support.
