Job Summary:
forFiveThirtyEight is looking for an intern to join our policy team in Fall 2021. We are looking for a current student or recent graduate who has experience using data to tell stories about politics, ranging from how Americans feel about an important political issue until unpacking major political and electoral trends. forforThe intern’s primary role will be to report and write their own stories, but the internship will also involve working closely with the policy team and other parts of the newsroom on a number of collaborative projects. - Present, report, and write stories about American politics.
- Perform original data analysis for major stories and articles and projects.
- Collaborate with other journalists and teams in the newsroom, including our visual journalists, video journalists, and desk journalists. forfor
Basic qualifications:
for An ideal candidate will haveexperience in journalism and experience in data analysis, plus some experience covering or analyzing American politics (whether in a journalism class, a school newspaper, a job, or an internship). But \”politics\” does not simply mean electoral politics. It could mean that you have experience reporting on issues of politics, social movements, polarization in your community, or something else. - Journalism experience, whether in a class, working on a student publication, or through a job or internship.
- Experience analyzing data, again, whether it’s from a class, student post, or previous job or internship is absolutely fine.
- Some experience reporting on politics.

- Must possess unrestricted work authorization
- Must be at least 18 years old
- At the time of application, you must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and take at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the past six months – OR – currently participate in the Disney College Program, the Disney Culinary Program or the Professional Internship Program of Disney
- Must be able to have a consistent and reliable work schedule throughout the session
- Must not have completedone year of continuous employment in a Disney internship or program

- This internship is a remote internship. The internship requires a reliable and working internet connection, as well as a quiet and dedicated workspace.
- The approximate dates of this internship are January to May 2022
