Position Summary
Under general supervision, transports samples, reports and supplies between various hospitals and medical facilities and the main laboratory.
Basic Functions
- Provides quality customer service through communication, sample collection, delivery of laboratory results and supplies.
- Operates the company’s vehicle. Responsibilities include vehicle safety, up-to-date maintenance sheet, safe and defensive vehicle driving.
- Maintains the route sheet.
- Communicates with dispatch by radio, beep or telephone.
- Offers training for new drivers in all job functions.
- The job requires computer skills to create and verify transport lists.
SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY
Responsibility of the department only, although it provides service to internal and external clients.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
The job involves frequent communication in person, by radio and in writing. Pickup and deliveries can weigh up to 25 lbs. Must be able to operate the Company vehicle safely and defensively. Must be able to register thetime and other information needed accurately. The job requires frequent communication by radio, beeper or telephone system.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Ability to train new drivers in job roles.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Minimum qualifications
- Requires a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Related additional training and/or preferred experience.
