Job Description

Capgemini’s Product and Systems Engineering Unit provides systems and safety engineering expertise to help our clients develop and deliver safety-critical systems to meet today’s increasingly challenging regulatory needs. Our work is essential in delivering demonstrable safety that satisfies industry regulators and acceptance authorities. We deliver safety engineering and management across a number of sectors including rail, nuclear, air traffic management, aerospace, defence and automotive. Current projects that the safety team supports include;

  • two large ATC software development projects
  • development and legislation of AI based remote inspection, maintenance and repair vehicles for railway infrastructure maintenance
  • system integration and software development for a railway signalling application
  • small modular reactors
  • nuclear new build
  • radiological monitoring and protection
  • development of a torpedo safety electronic unit
  • system integration and software development for a submarine command and control subsystem
  • niche safety engineering consultancy for new and novel systems

Your profile

We are looking for senior safety engineering consultants with a profile that meets a significant number of the following requirements:

  • Safety Engineering Domain knowledge with five plus years’ experience in one or more of the following:

oAerospace, Nuclear, Air Traffic Management and Defence domain knowledge

oRailway (signalling, rolling stock, OLE, etc.)

oAbility to adapt to new domains

  • Software Safety Assessment and Compliance to Standards (DO-178A/B/C, IEC 61508, Common Safety Method, EN50126, EN50128, EN50129, etc)
  • Safety Management Systems
  • Hazard identification, assessment and management techniques e.g. HAZOP, FMEA, FTA, Event Tree Analysis, Hazard Logs
  • Security Safety Analysis
  • Safety Case production and assessment
  • Safety auditing and assessment
  • Able to work at both ‘big picture’ and detail levels
  • Chartered Engineer appointed by the Engineering Council

Candidates will be competent in the delivery of safety activities; the engineering lifecycle and be familiar with safety-related standards. As we are a consultancy, we do need people with strong ‘soft skills’ and who inspire client confidence.
