This individual will be responsible for providing research and information to help APPNL’s management make decisions about Investments. He/she will also be responsible for the following: Growth Strategies: Market opportunity analysis, identification of future trends, new market entry strategies Business Development: Competitive analysis Strategic Planning: Annual business planning, business case development, go-to-market strategies

Responsibilities

Strategy:

  • Identify and evaluate long-term strategic investments, opportunities, businesses, and alliances
  • Ensure the implementation of APPNL’s investment strategy, policy framework and investment criteria for evaluating prospective projects
  • Craft and Implement the Employer’s Investment Strategy and Policy Framework
  • Identify sources of finance (debt, equity, and other alternatives), close on appropriate options and support investor relations management
  • Coordinate the annual review of the Company’s business/strategic plan. Provide input and feedback as appropriate

Research:

  • Provide relevant industry research news summary to Executive Management and Investors on a regular basis
  • Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments
  • Examine and assess economic and market trends, earnings prospects, financial statements and various other indicators and factors to determine suitable investment strategies
  • Provide up to date information on the financial market’s activities, latest economic trend in the country in order to rightly position APPNL in the local and global market
  • Perform market research to determine/verify a project’s viability and to inform the assumptions used in models
  • Manages providersesearch partners (NPD, Qualtrics, Tableau), deploys surveys/ reporting and continuously perfects data collection and research methodologies to strengthen results
  • Collecting and recording impact data and ensuring data integrity, in line with the company’s impact data strategy and policy

Product Development

  • Assisting with the development of new and innovative financing structures
  • Assist Management in monitoring of portfolio companies as well as source deals and supporting transactions
  • Developing marketing materials / pitch packs and PowerPoint presentations, review and update of market commentaries, Confidential Information Memorandum, written analyses, research, financial statement analysis
  • Compile advisory reports and make informed recommendations on new investment opportunities and funds that could enhance or diversify portfolios
  • Providing end-to-end support to the Head of Deal Analysis and Investor Relations on research, deal analysis and due diligence on projects
  • Monitor closely financial press and keep a track of market trends, opportunities, risks and new investment products

Fund-raising/Road Show/ Investor Collateral Documentation:

  • Work with the Chief Investment Officer to agree on targets, strategies and tactics for fundraising from investor companies and individuals
  • Coordinate capital raise drives for Funds; Develop and refine fundraising process, defining activities, responsibilities and key milestones
  • Work closely with the Brand Management team to develop ways to promote, showcase and celebrate our infrastructure development opportunities across our social media channels and other digital platforms
  • Research funding sources in the form of grants, loans or investments
  • Monitor and track fundraising performance against annual KPIs
  • Ensure all APPNL events and fundraising activities meet fundraising, health & safety and data compliance standards
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Deals Analysis & Investor Relations and the Executive Management Team

Qualifications

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field
  • Certified Financial Analyst certification or CFA Level II assessment passed
  • Master’s Degree in Finance or MBA, will be preferred
  • Associate member of any of the accounting professional body (ICAN, ACCA,CIS, etc.)
  • At least 5 years’ post-graduate finance / banking experience, largely gained within a Leveraged Finance context or professional services environment
  • Experience in research and strategy in a consulting firm or financial sector an added advantage
