About This Role
As part of the strategic growth and enhancing capabilities of the APAC risk organization, the APAC Regional Chief Risk Officer (RCRO)’s office is looking for a high-caliber Portfolio and Credit Risk Lead with credit risk, portfolio or quantitative experience to coordinate across financial risks and broader risk initiatives across multiple markets, legal entities in APAC with US based and Regional Risk and Business leaders. The role also works as a team to drive implementation of credit risk oversight of the regional portfolio, including setting and conformity to appetite & policy, identification & assessment of potential emerging risks, remediation of issues and monitoring activities. The role reports to Head of Financial Risk Oversight in the APAC RCRO office.
In This Role, You Will
- Work with Head of Financial Risk Oversight and the Risk leaders to create and maintain a comprehensive strategic plan for enhancements and lead initiatives to enable its implementation
- Proactively drive enhancement to Credit risk oversight of the regional portfolio across areas including risk appetite, policy, identification of issues, monitoring and adherence to local regulatory expectations
- Review credit proposals for facilities as needed to support Branch governance requirements
- Supporting Country/Legal Entity Risk Officers and inputs to Branch Management and Control Committees across APAC to ensure Regional IRM Coverage Model executed effectively.
- Support proactive engagement with Line of Business stakeholders, APAC Business Control, Regional Risk Heads, Corporate & Investment Banking Risk function and Enterprise Functions, focusing on understanding the needs of the Business (as they pertain to the risk functions) and creating appropriate strategic solutions
- Support Risk and Business Projects by providing and coordinating IRM input, oversight and credible challenge (as appropriate)
- Follows regulatory developments, working with APAC risk leads to incorporate new regulatory requirements into the existing risk management framework
- Conduct an ongoing operational review of the risk policies and practices, including the continuous identification and implementation of process and system improvements.
- Oversee a comprehensive, horizontal view across APAC financial Risk types through data aggregation, reporting, and analytics, including financial, market, and economic data and assesses the impacts to APAC risk fundamentals
- Conducting deep dives into specific areas of focus based on Risk and Regulatory priorities
- Proposes additional portfolio risk and performance metrics in partnership with risk group leaders and the lines of business within APAC
- Providing analytical support in the production of material/presentations for various committees, reporting for finance, senior management and ad hoc reporting as required;
Requirements:
- 12+ years risk management experience in credit risk assessment or credit portfolio management and understanding of at least one other risk discipline (liquidity risk, market risk, ALM, operational risk)
- Degree in business or quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Modelling, Data risk management
- Deep and hands on understanding of risk analytics, data and applicable systems
- Strong data skills, including working with advanced data sets, advanced database and statistical functions and methods.
- Extensive use of sophisticated data analysis
- Ability to articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of management
- Ability to quickly establish credibility to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
- Ability to identify risk factors and ensure enactment of appropriate controls
- Ability to track and monitor project progress, identify project and process gaps, recommend controls and communicate progress to business leaders
- Ability to translate and present complex data in a manner that educates, enhances understanding, and influence decisions
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
