The Maitland Hospital
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Pharmacist to join the Pharmacy team at Maitland and the Lower Hunter Sector Hospitals. Our department’s vision is to improve our patient’s lives through optimising medication management and to protect the health of our patients by preventing avoidable medication harm. In this role you will work closely with the other senior pharmacists, junior pharmacists and technicians, providing a clinical pharmacy service to the emergency department and the critical care stream.
About The Role
The role will be working at Maitland Hospital and will be expected to work a Tuesday to Saturday roster, although this can be negotiated with some weekends required. You will be required to supervise pharmacy technicians. You will be responsible for the provision of a wide range of pharmacy services to emergency patients and inpatients of the hospital, including dispensing, distribution and manufacturing services as well as clinical services. Promotion of both safety and quality as key aspects of drug therapy. Participation in quality improvement and professional development, as well as contribution to education and supervision of other staff and interns. You will provide clinical pharmacy service to the other areas as required. The role is supported by an area educator, other senior pharmacists, excellent technicians and a supportive service manager. As a grade 3 pharmacist you are expected to exercise a reasonable degree of autonomy.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
