Description: Special Agent: Health/Medical Services:
To stay ahead of the threat, Special Agents apply their professional experience and unique skills to their work every day. This includes previous roles in medical fields such as nurses and therapists. We need special agents who are logical thinkers, with prior scientific experience and knowledge to help with investigations of fraud and health insurance (medical, dental and ophthalmic) and government program abuse and evidence gathering.

As an FBI Special Agent, you can expect ongoing specialist training once aboard and opportunities to work on some of the Bureau’s most complex cases. The scope and scale of our investigations present unique challenges, unlike anything you might work on in the private sector. Your ultimate mission: protect the American people and defend the US Constitution.

Salary Level:

  • $62,556.00 – $80,721.00

Salary is proportional to experience and location.

Duties: Candidates must:

  • Comply with strict standards of conduct.
  • Conduct a rigorous background investigation, credit checks and a polygraph to obtain a Top Secret Release of Compartmentalized Confidential Information (SCI).
  • Pass a physical fitness test (PFT); must be physically fit to complete training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA, and maintaina high level of fitness throughout your career.
  • Pass a medical examination, which includes, but is not limited to, visual gathering and hearing patterns.
  • Successfully complete approximately 19 weeks of employment as a Special Agent intern while working at the FBI Academy in Quantico.
  • Upon graduation from the FBI Academy, be available for transfer to one of the 56 FBI Field Offices, including San Juan, Puerto Rico or remote resident agencies (satellite offices) to meet FBI needs. Special Agents rarely return to their processing office. Applicants must ensure that their families are prepared and supportive of this change.
  • Throughout your career, be available for temporary assignments anywhere in the world, whether temporary or long-term.
  • Work a minimum of 50 hours a week, which may include irregular hours, and be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays and weekends.
  • Be willing and able to participate in arrests, execute search warrants, raids and similar assignments.

In addition, all Special Agent candidates must successfully complete the Special Agent Selection System (SASS), a mentally and physically challenging process designed to find only the most capable candidates. The selection process typically takes a year or more to complete.

  • Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or higher (preferably in a medical, health, or public safety discipline) from an accredited US college or university.
