The Role:
We are looking for a Team Lead Data Scientist who will work with productionized AI which supports our industry-leading AI publishing platform. The successful candidate will lead a cross-functional team of Data Scientists towards the design, development, productization and improvement of AI products.

To empower scientists and radically improve how science is published, assessed and disseminated to researchers, innovators and the public, we have built our own state-of-the-art AI Review Assistant (AIRA), as part of our AI products’ portfolio. AIRA is backed by cutting edge ML models (covering areas such as computer vision, NLP, recommender systems)

Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to roadmaps for AI products that are revolutionizing scientific publishing from AIRA to our cutting-edge reviewer recommendation algorithms;
- Manage a team of Data Scientists, coordinate and distribute the work of the team members;
- Set up the strategy for our Data Science unit, leading the direction for our AI initiatives;
- Ensure best practices for your team are adhered to, in particular the measurement of the success of AI initiatives, application of production-ready AI system and alignment with MLOps imperatives;
- Deep-dive into our first and third party data to uncover opportunities and solutions that your team will own end-to-end, from design to rollout in production environments;
- Remain informed about the latest market trends to identify how the latest developments in the Data Science industry can be applied to Frontiers;
- Collaborate with our Product Management and Data Engineering departments in data mining and acquisition efforts;
- Proactively propose and lead cross-departmental initiatives related to our Objectives and key results (OKRs) framework;
We seek enthusiastic team players with great initiative and a get-it-done attitude. Candidates must be able to handle a fast-paced work environment while juggling several different tasks at the same time. Excellent organizational, communications, and multi-tasking skills are musts.
Minimum required skills and qualifications include:
- Demonstrable background in a similar role;
- Master’s or PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics, or in a relevant discipline;
- Solid work experience and advanced working knowledge of SQL/BigQuery/Spark, Python/R, or other languages/technologies for performing complex data modelling and analysis;
- Experience with Web-based data analytics platforms such as Databricks;
- Proven experience with leading the end-to-end design and rollout of projects within Data Science/Artificial Intelligence functions;
