About the work

Overview

The authorization specialist is responsible for obtaining authorizations for our patients by providing the appropriate forms and clinical data to insurance companies. This role works with Prescription Cycle team members and physicians to coordinate the authorization process in a timely and accurate manner for multiple providers.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with Nurse Case Managers/Adjusters to provide world-class customer service experience
• Verify and obtain authorizations as required by dependent insurers Plan Coverage for All Patients
• Accurately enter dates, visits, or authorized units into ATI’s Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to correctly track therapy services.
• Coordinate efforts and communication between insurers and the clinic regarding specific insurance forms and schedules so that the patient is authorized for all necessary ongoing care.
• Provide feedback for authorization changes as the insurance plan changes.
• Collaborate with the Office Collection Center for authorizations lost while the patient was being seen for therapy service
• Efficiently manage the assigned authorization workload to ensure timely completion of the requests.
• Ensure compliance with departmental and company policies and procedures.
• Complete all programsassigned training courses.
• Collaborate with team members with supportive communication, respect, and appropriate feedback.

Necessary Education

Qualifications

• High School Diploma

Experience required

• 1 year experience of health or health insurance

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Strong organizing skills to initiate and track authorizations
• Attention to detail
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external teams
• Ability to provide clear guidance through written and verbal communication
• Strong customer orientation
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
